The Fitz Place Open House
I was honored to be asked by my good friend Cali from SmittenKiss to participate in a styled shoot at the open house of a new venue - The Fitz Place.
Situated in San Martin, the Fitz Place is just south of Silicon Valley in the heart of Santa Clara County's Wine Trail. With its country charm and sprawling vineyard, the Fitz Place was the perfect backdrop for a beautiful shoot.
And without the usual constraints of time and resources, we let our creativity run wild in designing and creating our set.
Our inspiration for this shoot was the magenta bougainvillea - bright and bold, but also ethereal and transient. While beautiful to behold, bougainvillea is delicate and thus not often used in floral design. I love the ruffles and darling flurry of petals.
The ceremony was located on the lawn in front of the Fitz Place house, and I wanted a statement piece that would wow without obstructing the beautiful building behind it. Thus we settled on our signature 'Circle of Love' arch, filled to the brim with bougainvillea, roses, dahlias, tulips, and lots of greenery, allowing the Fitz Place house to peep through. The ceremony aisle was also decorated, and provided a bright and merry entrance.
The reception was held in the Barn, where my team created a stunning floral chandelier filled with flowers and greenery, continuing the ceremony's color scheme. Floral chandeliers are an exciting and daring way to highlight a special space at the reception, like the dance floor, cake table, or head table.
For this shoot, the chandelier was suspended over a square table, a departure from a traditional round or king's table. Along with a diagonal floral runner, featuring more fluttering bougainvillea, roses, tulips, dahlias, and greenery, the setup allowed guests to see and talk to everyone at the table.
